Are you one of those people who doesn't believe the Krispy Kreme hype? cos.. how can a donut taste so good, and being talked about like 'it's the best donut in the world'? Well, i was one of the people who didnt believe the hype either. i tot it was just any other ordinary tasting donut which they did alot of marketing for it, and thats why it's so famous and all. But the 1st time i tried it was thanks to Tricia's cousin, who bought a dozen for me. I tasted 4 flavours, but i only remember 3 - strawberry, sour cream and chocolate. For a person to not like artificial strawberry in any food products to like a Krispy Kreme strawberry donut is really something.
So i was having my retail management lecture a couple of days ago. It was a dreadful and slow lecture.. he was just draggin it so much that everyone wasn't really paying attention. Some people actually left the lecture hall after 30 mins.. At the end of the 1st hour, he already finished his lecture, and he was going to invite a guest speaker, which he did not give any information about. While waiting for the guest speaker to arrive, i really wanted to leave cos it was my 6-hrs day straight wit no breaks. It would be good if i can take a time-out to have a coffee or something. and guess what happened?
Several people walked in with bags and bags of Krispy Kreme!!!
if u were in the lecture hall, u wouldnt believe the amount of excitement everyone was in. i was hearing: 'r u serious?!', 'r u kidding me?', 'oh, do we get to eat a donut?', 'krispy kreme!'... i just went...WTF? when we were told that everyone will get a box each... it was totally awesome..
The fact that they're able to bring so much Kripy Kreme to a lecture hall says alot about them, dun it? cos they're selling each donut for about AUD$3, and they're giving dozens and dozens of it.. imagine if its a small donut shop giving away that many donut, they could just closed down the next day. The amount they spent on marketing their product was just phenomenal.. In fact, i tink they're happy that they're able to bring those donuts right down into a university campus. Just imagine the word of mouth spreading that will take place in just 1 day in school.So everyone got a dozen of the donuts, and the marketing manager of Kripsy Kreme in New South Wales started giving his presentation of the company. Yeah, the nearest Krispy Kreme to Melbourne is in NSW, ridiculous man! It's about 3-hr drive just to get there. He was showing us videos of how Krispy Kreme was appearing in news and how much celebrities love them and all.. Up to this point, im pretty sure alot of u will be thinking, 'they did so much advertising, surely get famous, and thats why alot of people are buying it'.. well, i wouldnt even try to convince u how good it is, until u really try it urself.
While he was giving his presentation, i saw alot of people eye-ing at the leftover plastic bags which was at the front of the lecture hall. Each plastic bag has got 6 dozens of Krispy Kreme. There were about 10 to 15 plastic bags in front, some with 6 dozs, some with lesser. I told myself, 'heck care about the kiasu-ness already, who gives a shit when we're talkin abt Krispy Kreme. if i were to grab 6 dozs, and sell each donut for $2, i would have made AUD$144 that day' when the lecture ended, so many people rushed down to grab the plastic bag and leave straight away! I dun even have time to get out of my seat.. Tricia manage to grab 6 dozens and was kind enough to give me another doz.
I was still in my seat when i took this picture.. lol.. slow poke. oh well, ive got 2 dozens anyway.. doesnt matter. Throughout the day, i got so many pairs of eyes staring at my 2 boxes of krispy kreme. i was tryin v hard to protect it. a few even came up and ask me where did i got it from.. i gave away a few in my lecture and tutes. since i had so many, i couldnt finished it all by myself anyway, gave 1 to my tutor for retail promotion (hope i get some credit for that and get a good mark for my assignment which is due this coming wednesday). gave away a few to my friends as well..huiwen: i will drive to NSW to let u try Krispy Kreme, a'right? you'll get to eat it.
